2030 World Cup: Competition to take place in six nations on three continents

It has been announced that Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will be the co-hosts of the tournament. The first three matches will be played in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay respectively. Due to the fact that it will be one hundred years since the first World Cup was held in Montevideo, the opening matches in South America will be utilized to commemorate the centenary of the organization. The decision is scheduled to be ratified in a congress of the FIFA in the following year.

Additionally, the International Football Association (FIFA) has declared that the 2034 finals will only examine proposals from countries who are members of the Oceania Football Confederation and the Asian Football Confederation. As a result of that decision, Saudi Arabia made the announcement that it will be submitting a bid to host the event for the very first time in 2034.

Before the 31st of October, prospective hosts are required to submit confirmations of interest in hosting the event. Football’s world governing body has been accused of participating in a “cycle of destruction against the greatest tournament on Earth” in response to Fifa’s intention to organize the 2030 tournament across different continents. This move has been met with anger from FIFA’s supporters.

“It is heartbreaking for supporters, it shows complete disregard for the environment, and it gives the red carpet to a host for the year 2034 who has a terrible track record when it comes to human rights.” “The World Cup as we know it has come to an end,” an organization called Football Supporters Europe stated. Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, made the following statement: “In a divided world, Fifa and football are uniting.”

It was unanimously decided by the FIFA Council, which is representative of the global football community, that the FIFA World Cup, whose first edition was held in Uruguay in 1930, should be commemorated in the most fitting manner possible. In 2030, we will have a unique global footprint, three continents – Africa, Europe and South America – six countries – Argentina, Morocco, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain and Uruguay – welcoming and uniting the world while celebrating together the beautiful game, the centenary and the Fifa World Cup.”

Montevideo, Uruguay, the city that played host to the very first World Cup event in 1930, is getting ready to play host to the first game of the tournament in the year 2030. The matches that will follow will be played in Argentina and Paraguay. After that, the remaining 48 teams in the tournament will continue their journey to Europe and north Africa.

Because the hemispheres switch places, it is possible that teams competing in the World Cup will find themselves competing in two separate seasons within the same competition. Following South Africa’s successful hosting of the World Cup in 2010, Morocco would become only the second African nation to host the tournament if the application for 2030 is granted. A few weeks after Luis Rubiales, the former head of the football federation, resigned in response to criticism for kissing Jenni Hermoso during the Women’s World Cup, Spain was announced as the joint host of the international competition.

A restraining order was issued to Rubiales by a Spanish judge, although he denied sexually abusing Hermoso. Rubiales appeared in court and disputed the allegations. The previous time Spain played host to the World Cup was in 1982, when Italy triumphed for the third time in the tournament’s history. There has never been a time when Portugal has hosted the event, but in 2004, it was held there. At the World Cup, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will all automatically qualify as co-hosts. This is similar to the situation in previous World Cups.
